Favorite Child-friendly Instruments

  • Basic Beat Jumbo Egg Shaker
    Egg shakers are a favorite in my classes, for all ages!! I recommend you get the biggest size available. Babies will try to fit a whole egg shaker inside their mouths. So if these are too small it can actually be dangerous. I also recommend to buy a good brand, like Basic Beat, since some brands have had to recall theirs because the eggs have split in the middle and let all the really tiny beads out.
  • Baby Band Instrument Package
    A set of shakers that produce different sounds. Babies and toddlers love to shake these to the sound of music!
  • Smallest size Plastic Rainmaker
    This rainmaker is better for a baby. The medium and bigger sizes are not too fat for a baby to grasp but they can be too long and too heavy.
  • Twirly Whirly Rainmaker
    Rainmakers are great fun for children. They love turning them around and observing the beads pass from one side to the other making a pleasant and relaxing sound. Plastic rainmakers are sturdier and safer for young children.
  • Remo Kids Drum
    Remo has made a great selection of different sizes and styles of drums. Made with sturdy materials that last long, are capable of producing a more musical sound than most drums made for children.

Animal Palyground!!

Oh! So much fun!

This CD is full of great songs, funny and with diverse musical styles and multiple languages.

Some favorite songs:

Animal Crackers by Wee Fairy Beasties, I couldn't find a link to listen to their Animal Crackers song, but you can listen to 4 of their tunes from their last album with the same title at their My Space. And guess what! their are local! they are from Chicago, yippee!!!

The littlest Bird by The Be Good Tanyas. These woman have the sweetest voices, I love that they sing this song in harmony too! Fun trio of woman, loved their video too.

No More Monkeys: This song has been a favorite in several of my son's playdates. It is silly and it is sung to an irresistible reggae rhythm, it just makes you laugh and jump!

Where is the Music?!!

Here is an amazing Cd, we love it! the whole family has been snapping fingers, dancing and singing to this great music. The Band's name  is  "Madeski, Martin and Wood", the cd: Let's Go Everywhere."
Marat's favorite tune is  "Where is the Music" , I love the "Squalb" ( you will find yourself giggling as you listen to this one) and "Let's go Everywhere" of course. Really, really groovy. Excellent Musicians, great lyrics and an awesome way to think about children's world.
Check out their My Space, they have kindly posted four tunes from this Cd. Their first one made for children. Their other Cd's are awesome too, just not specifically made for the little ones, but surely great to be enjoyed as a family too.
